Michel Cardena, ephemera from the 1970s to early 1980s

Extensive collection includes: (1) Announcement for the 1973 chess performance with J.C.Lambert at the legendary In Out Center in Amsterdam. (2) Original b/w photo depicting Cardena during the performance 'Correction of a Catachrese' at Dam Square Amsterdam 1976, stamped and titled on verso by the artist. (3) Eight invitation cards for solo shows including 'Correction of a Catachrese' 1976, Agora 1978, De Vleeshal 1979, Boymans 1981.

(4) Large Stedelijk Museum events calendar poster for 1976, with all the artists' names crossed out except for Cardena's which is encircled in black marker. Vintage Cardena action. (5) Four performance posters, each ca. 60 x 40 cm, includes 'Black & White and Sometimes Colourful' as well as 'Somos Libres'. (6) Stapled programme booklet for a Cardena performance at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, 1976. (total 16) Miguel-Ángel Cardenas aka Michel Cardena (1934-2015), was a Colombian-Dutch artist working in a variety of artistic media. He is well known for his pioneering role in video arts in The Netherlands and his humorous and sexually loaded 'warming-up' performances. In 1972 he founded the artists-run In Out Center in Amsterdam.
