SOLD €800,00

Complete set of 4 engraved Amsterdam plans,

all ca. 25 x 29 cm. and with address "N. Visscher excudit", ca. 1670, lettered a-d in the bottom right corner (all with old manuscript numbers in white top corner and smoothened central fold).

Fine, complete set, as such very rare (also separately rare). Later on, the maps were also copied and published by Frederik de Wit and Johannes de Ram, among others; these later editions are less rare. This series beautifully illustrates the growth of the city in bird's eye perspective: (a) Amsteldam soo het selve is omhaynt geweest met houte Vesten en Toorens inden Iaere 1400; (b) Amsteldam ten tweede mael vergroot is eerst met steene Mueren omvangen inden jaere 1482.
