Rosa Bonheur (1822-1899). Autograph letter signed to "monsieur"
Bifolium, one p. with text in pen, 21 x 13 cm, dated "Paris, 29 octobre 1851", together with sm. lithogr. portrait of the artist, in 19th cent. blue paper bifolium w. letterpress clipping from a French auction-catalogue on front.
With folds as sent to the receiver. Name of the author and date in another hand on the final page of the bifolium. The clipping provides a perfect short French description of the contents: "Elle lui annonce le départ d'un tableau, commandé par lui et désire savoir s'il en est content: "J'ai fait mon possible pour qu'il soit à votre goût et je désire avoir réussi" (announcing the departure of a picture ordered by the one the letter is addressed to, and wanting to know if he is satisfied with it).
