Peter Roehr, Sämtliche Textmontagen

Cologne, Gerd de Vries, 1972. Rare assembling of photocopied sheets featuring typed text works by the German artist Peter Roehr (1944-1968), from the period 1963-66. One of only 30 numbered copies from a total edition of 34 copies. Comprises 78 loose A4 sheets, including 2 yellow cover sheets, a title page, two index pages and a colophon sheet with the hand added edition number 22.

This copy without pvc-binder, though a light imprint on the center left margin of the sheets may suggest it has formerly been clipped in a folder. Apart from the minor imprint, the sheets are in very good condition, see pictures. Peter Roehr, who died in 1968 at the age of 24, became known for his serial montages which included objects, photo, film and sound as well as text or 'typo-montages'. Roehr collaborated closely with Paul Maenz, together they organized the groundbreaking 1967 exhibition 'Serielle Formationen' with Andre, Dibbets, Haacke, Judd, Manzoni and Schoonhoven. Paul Maenz gallery (with Gerd de Vries) was instrumental in keeping the artists' legacy alive.
