Bound w. blank pages. Foxing/ browning. Only Dutch translation of Guazzo's 'La civil conversatione' or 'De civili conversatione'. Guazzo's work became very popular and was translated into French, English, German and Dutch. The work offers a fairly complete picture of Italian life in the 16th century, as Guazzo provides advice on a wide range topics such as social life and behaviour, one's relationship w. one's neighbours, marriage, religion and education.
