Ken Friedman. Collection of documents 1970s and 1980s
Friedman (b. 1949) was an active intermedia artist and promotor of Fluxus. He set up an international information network and organized various events in the 60s and 70s as director of Fluxus West, continuing well into the next century. This lot includes texts, exhibition announcements, flyers, and press clippings of projects initiated by the artist.
With 8 invitation cards and posters from the 1970s including a mailed card from the Polish gallery Akumulatory 2 in Poznan, 1974 and a bright poster for Omaha Flow Systems at the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha Nebraska 1973. Photocopied texts by Friedman feature Explaining Fluxus or an Anecdoted Mammography of Fluxus, 1986 (75 pp); Fluxus Principles of Art and Design, 1987; Studies for the Fluxus Chess Project, 1987; Works at Emily Harvey NY, 1987 et al. Artists' booklets include Art Café Revue Vol.1 No.2 Oct. New York 1985, and The Fluxus Saga, part two 1987. (total 400+)
