Ca. 1900-1910. Incl. 5 double-p. and 138 col. postcards. They incl. portraits of local inhabitants, village life, people at work and ceremonies, made in Senegal (Dakar), Guinea, Mail, Côte d'Ivoire, Benin and Lagos. In two impressive albums: one in red cloth w. Art Nouveau decorations and "Cartes Postales" on front board (39 x 25 cm), the other in contemp. vellum, richly gilt dec. and handcol. in style of Medieval psalter, "Cartoline Postali Illustrate" written on front board, spine with inititals "PM" (36 x 30 cm).
Both circulated and uncirculated. Cloth album somewhat worn, binding loosening. A remarkable collection. (total 2)
