A rare Yellow Nineties publication connecting Symbolism and early queer aesthetics. Painter and poet Ellis (1845-1916), a friend of the brothers Yeats and member of the Rhymers club, was associated with John Lane and played a role in the revival of interest in William Blake. His illustrations, influenced by Rossetti, Ferdinand Khnopff and Burne-Jones. depict androgynous and idealised male figures characteristic of late Victorian proto-queer art. First quire loosening, corners bumped and some other wear. Rare.
