Only novel by Natalie Clifford Barney, the American expatrate author known as the 'Amazon of Paris'; her life and work reflected an independent and intellectual woman and her openly lesbian identity made her a prominent figure in the Parisian artistic elite. Her circle included Renée Vivien, Liane de Pougy and Olive Custance. 'The One Who is Legion' is told by a genderless narrator and explores themes of identity, sexuality and and occult elements. Very rare first edition of Barney's only novel.
