Coenegrachts, Matthias Hermanus, Zuid-Limburg, 1618. "Farrago precum Sacrarum

et aliorem excercitiorum piorum quae loco enchridii seu manualis esse poterit." (A medley of sacred prayers and other pious excercises, able to serve as a handbook or manual). Manuscript, signed "Per Matthiam Hermans Coenengrachts collectorum et scriptorum: Traiec ti Bethasioru Anno 1618", (323) unnumb. pages, contemp. vellum. Continued in a different hand: "Pie precatiuncule additae seu selectae per Paulum Matthiam Coenengrachts", dated "Falcoburgi Anno Domini MDCLXXIX", 19 p., this part followed by 8 p. in yet another 17th cent. hand. First blank w. owner's entry in red pen dated 1946 and w. a waterstain that has been covered over with correction fluid on both sides. Vellum split on joints and lacking ties. W. nice older owner's entry "Waltherus Bleron 1763" in pen on title-p. and his name repeated on final blank page. Very interesting personal manuscript by various members of the influential Coenegrachts family. The term "Trajecti Bethasiorum" means the "river crossing of the Bethasiers", which in this case must be Maastricht (Trajectum ad Mosam). The Bethasiers were a German tribe living in Zuid-Limburg in Roman times.
