12mo., half-leather, marbled sides, new binding, gilt-stamped title on spine, title in red and black, (8),364 pp., title and first pp. expertly restored. Anna Maria van Schurman was the first woman allowed to attend lectures at the University of Utrecht, albeit from behind a curtain so male students could not see her. She was a humanist, linguist, theologian, poet, artist and entomologist. Opuscula contains works by Van Schurman and correspondence and poems by friends in academia.
