First Dutch edition of Labat's detailed journal in which he describes his voyages to the Caribbean islands. The journal is packed with historical observations and contains important sociological, geographical, zoological, anthropological and gastronomical notes and an extensive discourse on the cultivation of cocoa and the production of chocolate. The maps depict parts of North and South America with the Caribbean islands, Martinique, Barbados, Santa Domingo etc. (total 2)
