Paris, Ph.-D. Pierres / Clousier, 1777-1783, 12 vols., with 2 (of 3) folding engraved maps with coloured outlines, 16 engraved plates (1 folding) and 5 folding letterpress charts, contemporary uniform marbled calf leather with gilt back, 4to.

In vol. 1, the map at the front is missing; vols. 1 and 9 waterstained at front and back (incl. boards). In 1785 a supplement appeared, which is not included here. Apart from some signs of use and small defects (such as several dented corners or slightly damaged spine ends) else a good set, from the library of De Couvert, with heraldic ex libris on the inside of all front covers. Only 2 copies in Dutch libraries. Exhaustive, idealised history of China of which the manuscript, produced with aid of many Chinese sources by the Jesuit De Moyria de Mailla (1669-1748) was published posthumously by Grosier (1743-1823).
