Stemmers and H. van Dyck after A. Steyaart, contemporary blindstamped parchment, folio.

Good copy with small defects: folding plates with tanned traces of earlier tape restorations on tears in folds, tape replaced by harmless repair strips on verso; reinforced behind inner hinge, front outer hinge slightly torn and some smaller defects. Copies with such fine hand-coloured maps are rare; the two copies at present offered online have uncoloured maps. With the heraldic ex libris of Frederik Ouwerling (1883-1960) whose large library was came up for auction at Beijers in 1961 and 1962 (our copy was sold in October 1961, for the sum of fl. 86,-). Ouwerling's motto was: "Vita sine libris mors est." See https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederik_Ouwerling. Also with note in pencil by Ouwerling: "Gekregen van Aug. Sassen bij mijn eerste bezoek aan hem op 8 dec. 1912 [sign.]." On this August Sassen, see: https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/August_Hendrik_Sassen.
