[Friesland. With lovely provenance] Martini Hamconii Frisia,

seu De viris rebusque Frisiae illustribus libri duo. Franeker, I. Lamrinck en J. Starter, 1620, (18),127 [= 131],4 leaves, title printed in red and black, with engraved portrait and woodcut coats of arms on both sides of the title, else with 53 engraved full-length portraits, contemporary vellum, small 4to.

Minor defects to hinges on inside and outside, yet a very good copy. From the library of Johannes Meier (1651-1725), in his time a famous hebraist at the university of Harderwijk, with his name and date 1711 on the free endpaper. Also with the ex libris of genealogist B.F.W. von Brucken Fock (1841-1910) on inside front board, several publications by him in the field of Frisian genealogy are known. Haitsma/ Mulier/ Van der Lem 204a; De Wind p.348/ 49; Hollstein VI, p. 240; Van Someren I, p. 103-104; Muller, Amerika, 732. Contains on p. 74-75 an account of a journey of the Frisians to Chili and Amerika, long before Columbus. Fine and relatively rare and Franeker-edition, the second print of this history of Friesland (the first was printed by Lambert Raesfeldt at Munster, 1609 and a third print appeared in 1623). At least two variants of this edition exist, with the division of the title page's red and black differing. Various sources are available on Hamconius (1550-1620) online, whose real name was actually Maarten Hamckema, see for example: https://tinyurl.com/kbqwhen.
