L'Assiette au Beurre was the most important and best known of the politico-satirical weeklies of the time; the best artists contributed to it. Contributions by Forain, Paul, Léandre, Steinlen, Ibels, Valloton (one issue with one-faced lithographs "Crimes et Chatiments" in 1902), Van Dongen, Jossot, Caran d'Ache, Willette, etc., etc.
