[China] Album with 208 pasted photos in various media and sizes,

ca. 1900-1905, regarding one or several voyages to and in China, Japan (19 photos) and Ceylon (10 photos), undertaken with the ship "König Albert", with an inserted photo of the ship by W. Sander & Sohn in Geestemünde (19 x 31 cm., signed by R. de Haas), all photos with inscriptions in German, with besides family portraits and snapshots a large number of views of cities and villages, street scenes, extraordinary buildings, landscapes etc., many photos of a military nature, original cloth, oblong folio (a few photos slightly faded).

Highly extraordinary album, which presents a beautiful image of China ca. 1900 through the travels of a German family. The S.S. König Albert departed on 24 June 1899 for its first voyage from Hamburg through the Suez Canal to the Far East and repeated this journey several times. From 14 March 1903 on, the ship was deployed on other routes. Persons depicted include Johanna an Bord "König Albert" (multiple times), Frau Sofie Roth und Fräulein Kayser, Leutenant von Berg, Matrose, Oberleutnant Götze, Oblt Evers, one Hildebrandt, the Kreyer family, members of the Walte family, but also a beautiful portrait of "Unser Hauptnar Sun Ting Yü genannt Mops [also the name of a poodle, therefore comically intended] 1901 (December) - 1903 (December)". Also a photo of the second house at which the family stayed in Tientsin "von den anderen Offizierskwartieren aus gesehen", a photo with 11 German officers on board the steamship Tristan in Tangku (all identified below the photo), "Strassenbild in China", "Garnisonskirche in Tientsin (von der deutschen Pionieren erbaut)", "Chinesische Schauspieler", "Englisher Friedhof in Tientzin (auf dem dürften auch deutsche Toten bestattet worden)", "Strassenbild auf dem Gerichtsplatz", "Offizierskasino in Yangtsun (der chinesische General Go Yü Chai der zweite von Links)", "Eisenbahnunglück bei Lofa", many photos of the Peitaiho area, Tchingwantao, Shanghaikwan (incl. "Die grosse Mauer bei Shanghaikwan (Japanische Soldaten)", Shanghai, Beijing, Nankou-Pass, Huailai, etc.
