[Finely bound by Thouvenin] Series of 10 erotic Indian miniatures,

late 19th/ early 20th century, 10 gold-heightened gouaches of ca. 18 x 10 cm., reverse with handwritten text, pasted with top margins in album with 40 leaves of various colours of paper, beautifully bound in rich blindstamped and gilt full morocco by Thouvenin (signed on front board and on ribbed back), all edges gilt, oblong thin 4to (17 x 26.5 cm.), with chemise with silk insides.

The gouaches with marginal worm holes, binding without slipcase, else in perfect condition. With 19th-century printed bookseller's mark of Parisian trader Susse on the free endpaper. Thouvenin belongs to the most important 19th-century French book binders, the album has the look and feel of an unused album amicorum. The gouaches have probably been pasted in the album at a later time.
