Rupert of Deutz (Rupertus Tuitensis) (Liège area, ca. 1075 - Deutz, 4 March 1130) was a 12th-century influential Benedictine theologian, exegete and writer on liturgical and musical topics. Late in life he became abbot of Deutz Abbey in Deutz. Around 1110, Rupert published his first major work, De divinis officiis. Facing attacks from dogmatic opponents in the diocese of Liège, he retreated to the Michaelsberg Abbey at Siegburg. (Wikipedia).
