[van Doesburg/El Lissitzky] De Stijl. Maandblad voor nieuwe kunst, wetenschap en kultuur.

Ed. by Theo van Doesburg. 5th year. Leiden (no. 1) / The Hague (from no. 2), (De Stijl), January - December 1922, 12 issues with consecutive paging in one vol., 144; (145-176); 177-208 p. numbered in 2 columns (except no. 10/11, the "bizondere nummer" "Suprematisch worden van twee kwadraten in 6 konstrukties" by El Lissitsky), with 16 pasted plates after Vantongerloo, Huszár, El Lissitsky, Moholy-Nagy and others, also 7 double-sided plates with many illustrations after Rietveld, Richter, Puni, Rodchenko, Mondriaan and Wils, several woodcut illustrations after Kassàk, Gräff and Malevich in the text, contemporary cloth with gilt back, oblong 4to.

Somewhat foxed and with the vertical middle fold through all issues due to mailing of loose issues. No wrappers bound along except with the most important, aforementioned (double) issue 10/11. Almost certainly ex collection Antony Kok, one of the founders of the periodical, numbered "1150" on the first title page, with his name on the title of no. 2 and several interesting marginal small annotations in pencil, probably by him. Ex collection Jan van Riel (1907-1988). Rare complete year, possibly a proof for inspection by Antony Kok. Contains as most important issue (10/11, with the wrapper!) the highly influential work by El Lissitsky: "Suprematisch worden van twee kwadraten in 6 konstrukties" which was constructed by the artist in 1920 at Vitebsk. Also contributions by Theo van Doesburg (partly under pseudonym I.K. Bonset) and Piet Mondriaan.
