France, 2nd half 18th century, (296) p. in pen and ink in well-legible French, very finely bound in profusely gilt red morocco, both boards with central coat of arms of Marie France Pirlot - o'Heguerty [or o'Hegerty] below the o'Hegerty motto "Nec flectitur nec mutant" (they neither bend the knee nor change), gilt back with morocco letterpiece, edges of boards gilt, silk endpapers, small 8vo.

Stamp of the École Normale des Frères of Paris to the title page, minor other internal defects; hinges trifle torn in. Very finely bound, possibly by Nicolas Denis Derome (1731-1790). The coat of arms on the front combines the arms of the Irish colonel Louis François o'Heguerty and Marie France Pirlot. They were married in 1771. On the reverse of the title page a dedication has been written, signed "Pirlot", considering the text possibly the mother or father of the aforementioned Marie Pirlot: "Votre pieté ma fille m'a donné la force et le courage d'entreprendre à l'age 77 ans d'ecrire ce petit volume de pieté pr. vs. encourager (...)."
