Wechel heredes etc., 1596, 260,(26) p., with folding letterpress family tree of Osman I, modern leather in old style.

Tanned/ foxed; title with marginal reinforcements, a few minor other defects. The first folio edition (the first printing of this text appeared in 1588). Detailed, early description of Ottoman history up to 1550, based on a manuscript by Saadeddin (Muhammed ibn Hasanjan) and of great importance to the western view of the Turkish empire at the end of the 16th century. In 1551 the manuscript was acquired by Hieronymus Beck, after which it was translated into German by Johann Gaudier. Leunclavius (1541-1593?) (Löwenklau, Lewenclaw) translated the work into Latin, resulting in the aforementioned 1588 edition. From p. 243 on a description of the Turkish siege of Vienna in 1529 has been included.
