Two extremely rare Dutch publications: (1) Les metamorphoses

ou Amusemens [sic] Géométriques. Dédiée aus amateurs. The Hague, Weygand, n.d. (c. 1818), engraved title page (p. 1), game rules (p. 2) and 8 double-page plates (paged 3-10) with 56 figures as called for in the introduction, all versos blank, bound in original limp cardboard with the engraved title on orange paper mounted on front, 14 x 10 cm.

Extremely rare, no copies in PiCarta, which does list a copy of a similar work titled Les métamorphoses, ou Amusements [sic] géometriques, dated 1818: "2me pt.", also 14 cm. tall, so possibly the sequel to our volume. The introduction also mentions a "seconde livraison". In the introduction Weygand also explains that the publisher may have issued similar publications with various titles, but the intended figures to be formed were not recognisable: "C'est sous ce point de vue que j'ai combiné une suite de cinquante-six sujets représentant des figures de géométrie, des plans de fortifications, des monumens, des parties d'édifices, tels que des maisons rustiques, des portes, des fenêtres, des meubles, vases et autres objets réguliers." The publisher also mentions the availability of a plate with all 15 figures and all options. Perhaps that plate could be cut up in order to play the game, the book does not mention any blocks; (2) Vrolijke liedjes om te zingen bij het spelen van het schimmelspel, door J. Schenkman. Amsterdam, J. Theod. Bom, 1858, (8) p. (incl. front cover). Front cover torn in half, back cover missing. Extremely rare song volume with 7 songs, the last "klok en hamer". No copies in PiCarta. With added in slightly larger size an early letterpress Verklaring van het schimmelspel (bell and hammer game). (total 3)
