Diary of J.L. de Bruyn Kops

Journal 1852-1853. Approx. 380 unnumbered manuscript leaves, each entry with date and quote in French, text in Dutch, the whole preceded by a leaf with French quote and title page, both manuscript. Cloth, boards with gilt imprint, 17.5 x 15 cm.

Cloth toned, stain to front board. Jacob Leonard de Bruyn Kops (1822-1887) was successively official at the ministry of Finance and professor at the Polytechnische Hogeschool in Delft. As a member of Parliament from 1868 to 1884 he mostly spoke on trade, transport and industry. He was mostly known as the founder and editor of the De Economist magazine, author of a schoolbook on economy and cofounder of the Vereniging voor de Statistiek.
