[Great Britain. Royal copy] Cary's new map of England and Wales,

with part of Scotland. On which are carefully laid down all the direct and principal cross roads, the course of the rivers and navigable canals, cities, market and borough towns, parishes, and most considerable hamlets, parks, forests &c&c (...).. Second edition. London, J. Cary, 1816, engraved title (numbered 80 by hand) and dedication (numbered 71), followed by the general map, 2 leaves with the legend (72) and scales (63), followed by partial maps with coloured outlines numbered 1-61, 64-70, 73-79 and 81 [empty leaf 62 not present], the partial maps followed by 102 letterpress index pages, contemporary gilt halfmorocco, folio.

Title and dedication somewhat tanned. Fine and desirable copy with on the title the stamp of Louis-Philippe d'Orléans (1773-1850), king of France, also with his arms stamped to the head of the spine and his royal monogram to the foot of the spine. This extremely detailed wall map measures in assembled condition approx. 235 x 180 cm.
