Publication on the occasion of the 1873 Vienna World's Fair, comprising 14 lithographed plates: portrait of W.A. Scholten, frontispiece and 12 bird's-eye views of Scholten's factories. Printed by Walter Ochs, Magdeburg, 1872. Plates 32 x 48 cm, loose as issued in gilt blindstamped leather portfolio, large folio.

Lacks index plate. Portrait foxed, other plates in good condition. Portfolio edgeworn and with some dam. to leather on back board. Rare. Willem Albert Scholten (1819-1892), Dutch industrialist, pioneer of agricultural industrialism. The present views depict his factories in the northern Netherlands, Germany and Poland: Eurêka in Hoogezand (1841), Vlijt en Eendracht in Sappemeer (1854), Motké in Zuidbroek (1859), Selfhelp in Groningen (1862), potato starch factories in Stadskanaal and Veendam (1866), the "Foxhol" factory in Brandenburg an der Havel (1866), Bürgermeister von Schultz in Neu Ruppin (1869), the "Schiedam" distillery in Sappemeer (1869), the Gideon factory in Tängermünde (1870), Willem III in Tarnow (1870) and finally the Jan Boelens factory in Petrokow (Russia).
