[Ships] 16 various items: (1) "Fin de la Guerre"

(name of the ship). Engraving by Frans Hogenberg (c. 1540 - c. 1590), 21 x 27 cm, dated 1585 in the plate, mounted at corners under passepartout.

Trimmed on / near the platemark; lacks small piece of left margin; 2) "Afbeelding van een schip, leggende voor de scheeps timmerwerf van d'Oostindise Compagnie op Oostenburg; 't welk den 14 Mey 1690 (...) in vollen brandt raakte (...)." Etching by Jan van der Heyden (1637-1712), 27.5 x 31.5 cm, 1690, with engr. text in Dutch and French below the image. Trimmed on / near the platemark; central vertical fold; remnants of former mount verso; tiny burn hole. Depicting apart from the ship several "brandspuiten", of which Van der Heyden was the inventor; 3) (Sea battle). Engraving, 22.5 x 36 cm, from Orlers, Den Nassauschen Lauren-crans, 1610, under passepartout. View of Bantam with the attack on the Portuguese fleet in 1601, a victory of Admiral Wolfert Harmensz. and his 5 ships over 30 Portuguese vessels before Bantam. And 10 other 17th-19th cent. prints, incl. a duplicate of (3) from another edition with legend A-H below (in poor condition), and an etched sea battle by Jan Luiken. Added: 3 late 19th cent. drawings in black chalk, depicting various ships (total 16).
