Maria Lucretia Blomsma (1905-1940) was an illustrator and photographer, who committed suicide together with her husband, the author Gerth Schreiner, on May 16th, 1940, because of the terrible future they foresaw under the German occupation of the Netherlands. They are buried in Blaricum. This lovingly assembled collection on her life and art ("Mies Blomsma heeft het recht om niet helemaal in de vergetelheid te raken)" also comprises a biography-bibliography and the general story of her life (available on request), more modern photocopied documentation in a ringbinder and loose annotations. Of the 8 books present in the archive, we mention a few: (1) Cruys Voorbergh. Erfenis van Eeuwen, Geillustreerd met tekeningen van Mies Blomsma en foto's (Amst., reprint 1962, first published in 1941). Voorbergh was expert in the history of Dutch costume. Also present is a manuscript by Cruys Voorbergh for a new edition of the book, preserved in a ringbinder together with num. orig. photographs and typescript documentation. (2) Gerth Schreiner's book "Bezield bouwen" (1939) and 3 more books by him, two w. ills. by Mies Blomsma. (3) Jeroen Brouwers. De laatste deur. Essays over zelfmoord in de Nederlandstalige letteren (1984), with an essay on Gerth Schreiner and Mies Blomsma on pag 309-320. (4) Lucas Ligtenberg. Mij krijgen ze niet levend. De zelfmoorden van mei 1940 (2017), chapter 12, p. 117-127, on Gerth Schreiner and Mies Blomsma.
