Inside here and there waterstained, with small tears and other small defects; profile slightly tanned; lacks free endpaper; letterpress title and subsequent leaf with neatly affixed replacement blank bottom margin. Light damage to vellum spine, stained and split across top hinge. The second edition (title edition) of this standard work on the greatest of Dutch sea heroes. The first edition appeared in 1687. With 1 more historical work by Hooft (incomplete) (total 2).
