Lovely directory, the main part is an alphabetical list of the more than 12,000 inhabitants, followed by a list of all streets etc. The name on the front cover combined with the contents allows us to determine the original location of the book: J.A. Becker is - unsurprisingly - himself listed in the directory: he lived at Kalverstraat number 10 (lodging house), very close to Maaskamp, who held office at Kalverstraat and Dam, no. 1. The rare directory was published with this title by Maaskamp from 1819 to 1822. In the foreword of this first volume, Maaskamp writes on the story and workload behind this publication. With: (2) The same directory, for 1823, published by Maaskamp in 1822, in original printed cardboard (spine damaged, front board loose) and (3) an incomplete directory for 1815 (total 3).
