[Embroidery] Two items: (1) Black velvet strip profusely decorated with embroidery,
117 x 21 cm., multicolour decorated with renaissance tendrils using metal thread (silver?), probably part of a (Flemish?) tapestry, 16th century, in frame.
Heavily worn and fragile, yet an attractive fragment of a material at the time of fabrication only available to the very rich; (2) "Gobelin" of abundantly and multicolour embroidered yellow fabric, 132 x 107 cm., with repeated motifs after 16th-century example (ships, workmen, noblemen, dancing couples) and words such as "pax" and "Godt" (faded), attached to stick with loops. Somewhat faded, edges slightly worn and the cloth layer protecting the reverse with tears. (total 2)
