Two takes on The Identical Lunch
Alison Knowles, Journal of the Identical Lunch. San Francisco, Nova Broadcast Press, 1971, 72 pp. Artist's book by Fluxus pioneer Knowles, who ate the same lunch everyday for years (a tuna fish sandwich on wheat toast with butter and lettuce, no mayo, and a cup of soup or glass of buttermilk).
Turning this habit into a performance, she asked friends to try the same lunch, often at a local diner, and to write about their experiences for the journal. Contributions by John Giorno, Dick Higgins, Phillip Corner and others. Very good rare first edition. + Philip Corner, The Identical Lunch. Barton, Nova Broadcast Press, 1973. 46 pp. Edition of 1000 copies. Corner's own take on his friend Alison Knowles' Identical Lunch, using her original piece as a score. Photos and introduction by Knowles. (total 2)
