D'Amsterdam et deses [de ses] principaux bastimens. N.pl., n.publ., n.d., with 71 engravings numbered 1-71 (incl. title w. coat of arms (1) and plan (2)), several signed I. Veenhuysen (or. I.V.) or S. Webbers in the plate, all w. letterpress Dutch and French text in columns on verso, w. description of the facing illustration, both illustrations of the town hall w. 16 extra letterpress p. (quires B and C), w. 3 letterpress index p. at the end (starting verso of illustration 71), 19th-cent. half cloth, oblong 4to (in 8vo size: 15 x 20 cm).
A few lvs. (mainly at the beginning) strengthened in margins/ corners; occas. cut sl. short; library stamp (incl. "Afgeschreven") on final p.; partly vaguely waterst.; a few other sm. defects. We were unable to verify whether the index is complete, but it probably is. An extremely rare UNKNOWN VARIANT of the more common Afbeeldinge van de verscheyde vergrootinge van Amsterdam met der zelver voornaamste gebouwen etc./ Représentation de plusieurs agrandissemens d'Amsterdam et de ses principaux bastimens, with the same engr. title (but printed from a plate with larger head margin to accommodate the longer title), published by M.W. Doornick in Amsterdam, in 1662 (1 copy in PiCarta, UVA). PiCarta mentions one copy with the same longer title dated 1682 (Rijksmuseum). PiCarta lists a single copy (Rijksmuseum) with the shortened title as in our present copy, but some engravings with the address of C. Allard (indicated publication date 1700). The address of Allard is not found in our copy.
