Ando (Utagawa) Hiroshige (The 53 stagings of the Tōkaidō)

Facsimile edition of the series of 55 prints with the stagings and the starting point and terminus of the Tōkaidō, the most important road between Edo and Kyoto. Place and year unknown (ca. 1930?), except the reproductions of the 55 prints an overview map of the stagings, table of contents (4 p.) portrait of Hiroshige after Kunisada, opposite each print a photographic reproduction with the situation at the time of publishing with text in English (above) and text in Japanese (besides) the picture, in the back 41 pages Japanese text with several illustrations, bound as blockbook in original gilt-lettered decorated cloth, oblong 4to.

Beginning and end dampstained, endpapers and first/last leafs folded, binding stained.
