Philips von Zesen Beschreibung der Stadt Amsterdam (...)
Amsterdam, J. Noschen, 1664, (6),398,(22) p., with engraved title, folding profile, 3 folding maps, 1 folding bird's eye perspective, 68 (except one) double-page views and 1 illustration in text, contemporary vellum, 4to.
Acceptable copy: sl. tanned and trifle soiled/stained (particularly at the beginning); the folding plates with (partly repaired) tears; lacks free endpapers. The parchment is stained and torn along hinges.
One of the best and most enjoyable city descriptions of Amsterdam, with many fine engravings. The number of plates varies greatly between copies; our copy has the same plates as the copy digitised by Google. Such complete copies are rare, in particular because so many copies have been taken apart in order to sell the images as wall decorations.
