[Deluxe in every sense] "Pensées cueillies pour Yvonne"

Fully calligraphed series of miniatures, (86) p., each leaf with calligraphed verse heightened with gold in golden frame (each ca. 7 x 5.5 cm.) with gouache decoration of flowers in the margin, leaf size 18 x 12 cm., beautifully bound in dark green morocco, boards with gilt inside edges and silk endpapers, binding titled on spine "Heures", signed "Lesort" and dated on inside "17 Mai 1900" and with bookbinder's label, top edge gilt, 8vo size, in original cloth box.

The gilding has tanned the paper on facing pages, else in perfect condition. The cloth of the box is torn on the hinges. Beautifully finished manuscript, with a similarly high quality binding. The text extracts were written by such authors as Lacordaire, Legouve, Chevojon, Fénélon, Bossuet, Chateaubriant and Perreyve. On two pages preceding the manuscript, a poem is written in a very fine hand, signed "Mai 1900 Fitbera" (Yvonne's uncle). He explains to Yvonne that her mother lovingly made the manuscript for her.
