Small oblong folio (23 x 36 cm.), cased binding, title on spine in hw., "Avis" to the reader, engraved title page, 53 numbered and engraved full-page prints and 2 engraved prints by Riboldi, Brocchi and Dall' Acqua after drawings by Demin, Veyrene etc. Endpapers tanned, a bit shaky in binding, title page with fold and date and publisher covered with ink, shabby binding, inside good.

First edition of an important geological atlas on basalt formations by Scipione Breislak (1748-1826) and published as addition to Breislak's Institutiones Géologique.
