[Binding. Rich silverwork, c. 1734] Richly decorated black chagreen "sharkskin",
both covers with the following beautiful silver ornaments: central oval medallion incised with a bird (dove of peace?) and flowers, heart-shaped incised corner ornaments, within outlined edges, two shaped and incised clasps with engraved owner's initials "R.G.B." and the date 1734 on the inside, catches, gilt and gauffered edges, 8vo.
On: Le Nouveau Testament (...)/ Les Pseaumes de David (...). Amsterdam, J. van Heekeren etc., c. 1710/ 1716, 443 p./ without pagination. Leather sl. rubbed at joints. Occas. other small defects. A very fine, luxurious example. Online, we found another copy by the same publishers, with very comparable central medallions and clasps but less ornate. That copy with a Huguenot provenance, which might partly explain the French language edition and the dove of peace (?) medallions.
