Johanna Wattier (1762-1827) performed virtually every great tragedy of her time. She performed in Paris and Amsterdam, for Napoleon and King Willem I, received a stipend of 2000 francs (an incredible amount of money at the time), and exploited the Amsterdamsche Schouwburg for 1 year with two other contemporary actors.
