8vo. 6 volumes, half leather, title on spine in red and gilt stamping, 6x title page with illustrated vignette by R. Vinkeles (3x) and De L'Esdain (3x). Bindings slightly worn and with traces of use. Interior very good. The 600 plates in a fine contemporary colouration. Each volume contains 100 hand-coloured copperplates of medicinal plants and herbs with short descriptions in Dutch (from Houttuyn's Natuurlijke Historie) and in Latin (from Gmelin's edition of Linnaeus's Systema Natura) and an explanation of their pharmaceutical use in Dutch, adapated and translated by Dirk Leonard Oskamp, Martin Houttuyn and Johan Carl Krauss. First and only edition of this Dutch translation. The supplement by Ypey, published in 1813, is not included here.
