Complete with 17 maps, 44 plans and a folding panorama of Jerusalem. Annotations in pencil on endpaper; binding with traces of use. Hinr. E255. The second edition from 1894 caused some commotion. In the case Howard v. Dulau & Co. presented for the High Court in London, the Court ruled in favour of Howard and the text describing Howard's hotel as second-rate and Howard, being an Arab, had to be corrected. Thus pages 7/8 and 19/20 were replaced, i.e. "tipped in". In the third edition (1898) Howard's hotels (in Jaffa and Jerusalem) were no longer mentioned. As an extra, the earlier text is added in photocopy.
