[N.S.B.] Besprechung des Reichsführer-SS [= Heinrich Himmler] mit dem Leider Mussert

am 8. Juli 1943 in der Feld-Kommandostelle. Anwesend waren ausserdem noch: Der Bürgermeister von Rotterdam Müller. Der Vertreter der Germanische Leistelle in den Niederlanden, SS-Obersturmführer Herms u. SS. Obersturmführer Dr. Brandt. Typoscript report [by R. Brandt], 24 p. A4-size, ca. 8 July 1943, first leaf with stamp "Geheime Reichsfache", the 12 leaves with stamp numbering 113 to 124, perforated in left-hand margin (fragile war paper dam. there due to rough removal from folder).

A highly interesting text, its appeal stemming from both the typed text itself and the enormous amount of corrections and deletions in pencil, possibly by Brandt himself, or by one of the other persons present during the conversation. The conversation was intended to remove bad blood caused by statements by Mussert. The text itself is already known in various variants: we found a copy in the Bundesarchiv, but also various version in Ministerie van Onderwijs en Wetenschappen, Rijksinstituut voor Oorlogsdocumentatie. Bronnenpublicaties Documenten, No. 2. De SS en Nederland, documenten uit SS-archieven 1935-1945. Deel II (The Hague, 1976, available online in PDF). Various corrections and deletions from our original document have indeed been copied to known versions, others, however, not so. This version may be an unknown early version of the original report. Further research may be able to clear this up.
