With 2 pamphlets on the same issue [Ulricus Huber]. Gevoelens van eenige beroemde gereformeerde theologanten [...] nopens de dans-oeffeninge. Leeuwarden, Hero Nauta, 1683. 4to. [4], 52 pp. 19th-century cover. Dog ears, foxing, final leaf with several holes (with loss to text).
[Johannes van Holst]. Missive aan een vriend. Tegens de Antwoordt op een missive wegens [...] de Dansmeester van Franeker geheekelt en geholpen. Leeuwarden, Hauke Egberts Heringa, 1683. 4to. 22, [2] pp. Contemporary cover with a 19th-century label. Some dog ears and foxing, else good.
An exceptionally intriguing lot. In Franeker, a dance school threatened to be founded and this led to a passionate debate. Lawyer Ulrik Uber joined the discussions, as did Johannes van Holst and Paludanus feared that dancing would lead to moral decay (fortunately history proved he was right).
