Levi de boekenjood. By Wilha. Riem Vis
Nijkerk, G.F. Callenbach, n.d. (1899), 56 p., with 3 plates by A. Rünckel, original half cloth with title plate on the front cover (also by Rünckel), small 8vo.
Content loose; stamp of a Sunday school on front cover. The first plate (in this edition still in colour) depicts a bookseller in front of his stall while he is peppered with snowballs by some rascals and several of his books end up in the street. First edition of this scarce publication with antisemitic tendencies.
With 2 more, incl. E. Sanders. De handel en wandel van de boekenjood. Over vermaarde, vergeten en fictieve straatboekhandelaren (2014, p. 87 to 93 are dedicated to Levi de Boekenjood) and with another children's book which contains a plate of a travelling print merchant (1853).
(total 3 with strong 'Simon Emmering sensibilities')
