Simon Lissim (1900-1981) & Guido Colucci (1877-1949). "Andre Gide. El Hadj."

"Composé et manuscrit par Guido Colucci et illustré par Simon Lissim". Paris, 1936(-1937), 60 text pages entirely calligraphed by hand in various colours by Colucci on heavy handlaid "Arches", with 3 signed full-page gouaches and 5 smaller signed gouaches by Lissim (dated 1937), text and illustrations here and there heightened with gold and/or silver, loose-leafed in original wrapper and in original (?) faux leather chemise, 34 x 25.8 cm.

Wrapper is slightly discoloured along the edges; spine ends are reinforced with the same faux leather as the chemise's (possibly by the makers), nevertheless minimal tears on the hinges. Else in perfect condition. Beautiful, unique interpretation of the text by André Gide, first published in 1899.
