[Catchpenny prints] Two Zutphen imprints: (1) "Lieve Kind'ren kan 't u strelen,

dat gy speelgenoten ziet, gy moogt in hun bydschap deelen, maar in hunne twisten niet." Catchpenny print with 2 large stencil-coloured woodcuts, sheet size 33.5 x 41 cm, with letterpress introductory line at the top and with two-line verses below the scenes, Zutphen, widow of H.J. Mellink, (c. 1835), numbered "19" in upper right corner.

Remnants of former mount verso; fine copy on paper with watermark 'Hollandse Tuin' and the name A. & W. Ledeboer. Boerma, Borms et al, Kinderprenten, volksprenten, centsprenten, schoolprenten. Populaire grafiek in de Nederlanden 1650-1950, p. 196-198 (on Hissink, Zutphen), list of publishers, Hissink 19 and Mellink: "Was wederverkoper van Hissink". Our print is depicted by Boerma, Borms et al. as plate 211, but with the address of C.A. Verkouteren in Bergen op Zoom: "Deze houtsnede is een kopie naar voorbeeld van een vroege litho: no. 10 van P.J. Brepols (ca. 1830)." The period of W.& J. Hissink is dated by Boerma, Borms et al between 1831 and 1842. De Meyer, p. 61, retailer's list, and p. 345 ff., Onbekende Uitgevers cat. D 19; on the subject, see De Meyer p. 533 ff. The connection between Hissink and Mellink (both active in Zutphen ) was unknown to De Meyer. Boerma, Borms et al, p.196: "Tussen ca. 1826 en 1842 is er een serie prenten gepubliceerd waarvan pas sinds kort Hissink als meest waarschijnlijke uitgever wordt aangemerkt." And 1 more with address Zutphen, W. & J. Hissink, c. 1835, numbered "No. 21" (= number 21 in the list of the original publisher Wijnhoven Hendriksen Rotterdam (Boerma et al, p. 839)), on laid paper with similar watermark as (1), but by H.H.H. Ledeboer. (total 2)
