[Caricature. Militaria] Scrapbook of Paul Lefebvre Dibon (1866-1951)

Album with ca. 35 pasted drawings in mixed media, 14 picture postcards (addressed to Lefebvre Dibon), 8 photos and 18 various other items such as menus and magazine leaves/ clippings, some dated ca. 1826-1950, also ca. 35 blank leaves, contemporary half leather with gilt initials "P.L.D." on spine, 31.5 x 25 cm. (some items protruding from the bookblock and frayed, some items loose).

Lovely and diverse album, items partly with additional written information in pencil or pen, with the following items the most eye-catching: (1-8) Series of 8 beautiful satirical gouaches, affixed to paper holders (frayed), holders dated 1826-1831 and with names of the persons depicted from various families noted as "P...y" [Passy] and "F......d" [Fourmond]; (9-10) Two drawings signed "Paul Clément", with inscriptions "mon camarade Clément. Bourges 1893" and "Lt. Clément"; (11-13) View of the Koppelpoort in Amersfoort and two river views, signed "C. Anemaet 1883" in pen; (14-15) Two photographic group portraits with dozens of uniformed soldiers, with inscription "Au Camp de Rubard Février 1900" and "Officiers du 74e Régt. d'Infanterie Rouen Aout 1901", both with accompanying lists of names (Lefèbvre Dibon is listed himself); (16-25) Drawn caricatures of Lefebvre Dibon's colleagues (incl. fine silhouettes), partly of men who can be found in the aforementioned photographic group portraits; (26-28) Three drawings in pencil, according to inscriptions by P. and R. Jourdain (1x with figures drawn by E. Detaille, 2x with addition "pour les enfants"), dated 1905; (29) Albumen photo of a bullfighting arena during a show, 22.5 x 29 cm., with stamp on reverse of "Photo Jugand, Biarritz"; (30-31) Two letters in pencil by Blanche Parry, both with extensive rebus in pen (1x dated 1877).
