4to, green cloth, title and illustration on spine and front board in gilt stamping, lithographed title with 4 Indonesian heads (east and west Javanese, Chinese, Arabic), 2nd printed title, XIV,(1),242 pp., 26 large initials in the text in woodcut, 26 full-page colour lithographs [after a publication by K. Fuhri at The Hague, 1853. Printed at Lemercier in Paris] and a map of Java in 2 parts (physical and political) in steel engraving with coloured outlines. Various brown stains, mostly outside text and print image. Covered with plasticised paper. Scarce.
