"A Lione per Giovanni de Tornes", [= Lyon, Jean de Tournes], 1584, four parts in one volume as indicated on the title, 245,(10); (12); (4); (32) p., with engraved title portrait, one round woodcut and pages 13-199 all with centered woodcut illustrated (therefore 187 woodcuts) by Salomon Bernard ("Le Petit Bernard") with the text in fine cursive type of the metamorphoses within varying woodcut borders, 1 full-page woodcut with image of the fountain at Overnia, woodcut title illustration and several other woodcuts with the Apologia part, contemporary Italian limp vellum.

Slightly stained/ browned in bottom right corner and minor other defects, yet a good copy with letterpress ex libris "Bibliothecae Petri Buoninsegni Senis 1805" on inside front board and with old "ex libris Francisci Andreucci (...)" in pen on the title. Reprint of the edition by Jean de Tournes (father of our publisher with the same name) from 1559. A desirable book.
