Good set with only minor defects, each volume with booksellers label of M.M. Couvée (The Hague) on inside front board. The work is seldom found in such a good and original condition. Moreover the second and best edition, more rare than the first. Sabin 36635 (on the first edition, 1833-1848): "It is the most authentic history of the Dutch navy. (…) it contains very ample material for the history of the West-India-Company, the early expeditions to America (...)." In 1869 a third edition appeared.
